The excitement of unearthing your very first silver coin is an unforgettable milestone for any detectorist, perfectly captured by a joyful “Woo – Hoo!”. Our Official Users Group member, Bill Heitman, recently experienced this incredible thrill and shared his fantastic finds with the community.
A Quick 1.5-Hour Hunt in a Nearby Yard
You do not always need to travel far or spend days searching to make great discoveries. Bill conducted a short, hour-and-a-half hunt in a nearby yard. This brief session was more than enough to unearth a remarkable collection of vintage coins.
An Amazing Coin Haul and a Kind Gesture
With the right location and a reliable detector, Bill quickly hit his targets. The impressive coins found and displayed during this short hunt include:
- A total of 2 silver dimes, including his first-ever silver coin
- One clad dime
- One Zincoln (zinc Lincoln cent)
- One Wheatie (wheat cent)
- One Indian Head cent
One of the best parts of this discovery is how it reflects the kindness and camaraderie of the detecting community. Bill thoughtfully left one of the two silver dimes as a gift for the homeowner who graciously allowed him to detect in their yard.
