Every detectorist knows the feeling: sometimes, the best way to shake off a long workday is to put on your headphones, tune into the ground, and just start swinging. Last night, I did exactly that. Right after work, I grabbed my trusty Nokta Simplex Lite. Then I headed out for a quick, impromptu hunt to clear my head.
What was supposed to be a casual hour or two of relaxation turned into an absolute mini-adventure. It was filled with incredible surprises!
Here is what the Simplex Lite managed to pull up in such a short window:

- The Double Ring Jackpot: The Simplex Lite gave a beautiful, crisp signal that practically begged me to dig. The reward? Not one, but two rings! One is a gorgeous gold ring that instantly made the hunt worthwhile. Also, the other is a cool, nostalgic Avon ring. Getting a double-ring day on a short hunt is a rare stroke of luck.
- The Star of the Show (1945-S War Nickel): This was the absolute highlight of the evening for me. When I brushed the dirt off and saw the large “S” mintmark, my heart skipped a beat. A 1945-S War Nickel—and another “first” checked off my bucket list! Holding a piece of 35% silver minted during the height of WWII is just magical.
- Bonus Surface Finds & Clad: The ground was being generous all around. On top of the buried targets, I spotted an earring just sitting on the surface (a sweet little ground score!). Additionally, I found some everyday loose change to top off the pouch.
Talk about a successful short hunt! It just goes to show that you don’t need a full weekend to make amazing discoveries. The Simplex Lite was light enough to keep things effortless after a tiring workday. However, its performance was sharp as always.
