Hott Mess Fishin at Detect Michigan’s 6th Annual Metal Detecting Event

This past weekend, Hott Mess Fishin proudly attended Detect Michigan’s 6th Annual Metal Detecting Event in Athens, Michigan — and what an incredible time it was!

The weekend kicked off with the much-anticipated Family Cookout & Potluck, which brought everyone together for great food, laughter, and camaraderie. It was the perfect way to kick off the main hunt day.

One of the major highlights this year was the seeded hunt, which featured double the amount of silver compared to last year. (Yes — double! It was a LOT of silver!) There were also several fantastic natural finds that had detectorists buzzing with excitement.

The kids’ hunt was a major success, giving each child the opportunity to find plenty of coins and tokens of their own. Every child was also entered into a free raffle, ensuring no one left empty-handed.

In a special moment, our Nokta Nomad brought a kids’ metal detector to the event and gave it away in an exclusive raffle for children who didn’t yet own one. It was a heartwarming gesture that perfectly reflected the community spirit of the event.

All in all, it was an unforgettable weekend full of fun, friendship, and great finds. Enthusiasm is already building for next year — many are already counting down the days to the 7th Annual Detect Michigan Hunt in 2026!
