Gold watches and rings are good, but what about gold nuggets?

I am a gold prospector and I tested my new Simplex on a few of my gold nuggets. I put the following on the ground: A 1.5 gram ( 1 pennyweight ), a 1 gram and a .5 gram nugget. I put it in All Metal mode, ground balanced and maxed out the sensitivity. The 11 inch coil easily picked up the 1.5 gram and okay on the 1 gram, but I had to scrub the coil on the .5 but it didn’t repeat. The new 9″x5″ coil was much better and got the .5 gram, but not as easy as my AT Gold, TDI or Gold master 3, but that’s was expected. Otherwise I am VERY impressed and my next test will be in the Sierra Foothills in the very mineralized soils. I really don’t car about finding half gram nuggets, so with this in mind, I am hoping it can be used as a gold detector. Maybe Nokta will write a Prospecting program that we can download as an upgrade, which would dramatically increase sales.

To follow up the above story, I went to the Sierra Foothills near Paradise, California where an old friend of mine wanted me to help him look for gold. He buried in the ground a 1.5 gram gold nugget for a test piece and his Goldmaster 2 easily found it and so did my Garrett AT Gold. I got out my new Simplex with the 9.5 coil as described above and it responded just as well and sounded similar to my Garrett AT Gold detector. I was also very pleased that my Simplex was able to ground balance out the volcanic and serpentine hot rocks we used as test pieces for VLF machines, which the TDI pulse induction detector ignored them as expected. He really liked its design, light weight and features, plus 2 coils with wireless headphones at half the price of the Garrett ATX detector which has no extras like those. He found some gold previously but we did not have any luck that day and ran out of time, but I will keep you posted if I go out again!
